On January 31, 2020, at the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS), 85 students presented a "Youth Declaration on Climate Action." The document served as a collective call for heads of state to prioritize aggressive climate strategies, emphasizing that global environmental challenges require unified, multi-entity solutions.
The Culmination: The declaration was the final result of the Youth Climate Conclave, a three-day intensive program focused on awareness and policy deliberation.
High-Level Presence: The event featured representatives from the Ministry of Environment (MoEF&CC), the European Union, and UNEP, alongside leadership from TERI.
Strategic Collaboration: The initiative was organized by the EU, GIZ, TERI, and CEEW as part of the SPIPA project, supporting the implementation of the Paris Agreement.
The presentation underscored the youth's role as essential stakeholders in bridging the gap between global policy and urgent ecological action.
In November 2015, a diverse group of 40 completed a 100km trek through the forest corridors connecting the Kanha and Pench tiger reserves. Organized to raise awareness for wildlife habitats outside protected areas, the seven-day journey offered participants a rare, tech-free immersion into India's rich biodiversity.
Expert Guidance: Hikers were accompanied by veteran wildlifers, forest guards, and WWF-India’s Satpuda-Maikal Landscape team.
Wildlife Encounters: The group sighted a leopard and observed signs of sloth bears, gaurs, and tigers.
Cultural Exchange: Participants visited tribal villages to learn about harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
Personal Impact: For many, like participant Akshat, the experience served as a vital lesson in how all elements of an ecosystem are interconnected, from a blade of grass to large mammals.
The expedition concluded with the team emerging stronger, having traded urban comforts for a deep, firsthand understanding of conservation and the natural world.
